While makeup does make the skin glow, no product can beat the beauty of healthy skin. Here are ten habits that can help you achieve healthy and radiant skin:

1. Never Skimp On Snoozing

Getting 7 to 8 hours of sleep makes your skin clear and bright. When you are sleep deprived, your body releases cortisol which causes many skin problems. Adequate sleep also prevents the formation of dark circles under your eyes.

2. Exercise Regularly

Physical exertion doesn’t just make you fit; it is also beneficial for your skin. It improves blood flow to the surface of the skin, increases collagen production, and prevents free radical damage. The sweat opens up pores that release the trapped dirt and oil, but make sure you wash your face afterward to avoid acne breakouts.

3. Don’t Stress Out

You need to relax if you wish to avoid breakouts. Stress and tension release cortisol which can affect the hormonal levels leading to acne, wrinkles, or dry skin. You can perform exercises that loosen up the facial muscles, take adequate sleep and most of all relax.


4. Follow a Skin Care Regimen

Make a habit of following a skin care routine especially before you sleep. Begin with cleansing your skin with any product based on glycolic acid. The next step is to exfoliate to remove the dead cells. Use a gentle scrub and follow up with a moisturizer. You can also apply clay masks after cleansing, twice or thrice a week to detoxify the skin.

Moisturizing your skin is essential during the day as well; use a ceramide-based product for sensitive skin whereas a water-based moisturizer is ideal for oily skin.

5. Guard Your Skin against Pollution

Similar to specific foods vitamin C also has antioxidant properties. Applying a vitamin C serum after cleansing your skin helps protect it against pollutants, sun damage and also makes it radiant. Vitamin E, Argan oil, and green tea are ingredients that are excellent for skin protection.

6. Stay Hydrated

Hydrating the skin and the body is crucial as water flushes the toxins out of the body. Dehydration causes the skin to appear dry, flaky and may cause wrinkles. The best way to hydrate the skin is to moisturize and also drink about eight glasses each day to make your skin glow.

7. Eat Foods that have Antioxidant properties

Antioxidants aid in preventing free-radical damage which could otherwise cause your skin to age. Coconut oil, olive oil, and kale are foods that are good for the skin. Other essential nutrients include Omega 3s fatty acids that reduce inflammation, and vitamin A which makes you look younger by stimulating the growth of new cells. Add pumpkin, flaxseeds, walnuts, and berries into your diet to benefit your skin.

8. Avoid Smoking

Tobacco smoking not only damages your health but also adversely affects your skin. It causes fine lines and wrinkles near the mouth and reduces moisture making your skin look older and dull.

9. Don’t Pop the Pimples

You wish to pop that pimple on your face and just get rid of it once and for all. Well, it isn’t a good idea. Popping or squeezing may cause the bacteria to spread further on the skin causing swelling and irritation. It may also lead to permanent marks and scars on your face which you don’t want. 10. Always Apply Sunscreen

The UV rays from the sun play a significant role in aging your skin. Unprotected exposure to the sun causes fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation and reduces skin elasticity. It may also increase the chances of skin cancer. Always apply an SPF 30 sunscreen that offers the best protection against the harmful rays. You should use it 15 to 30 minutes before leaving your home for the day.
